 Original as Possible

  • The builds will be done on the Irish Vintage Scene Tractor - which will be kept as original as possible.
  • There is therefore no need to bring the team’s tractor to a competition event, as it will be supplied.
  • An open invitation is extended to ALL teams to practice of the IVS tractor.
  • It will be the responsibility of Irish Vintage Scene to provide the tractor and ensure it is brought to all the events.

 Judge

  • At all events IVS events there will be a Judge.
  • The judge will ensure that the Tractor is built correctly with penalty seconds being applied to the overall time for works not completed during the build.

The current set of rules have been established since September 2008. It has been agreed by all teams involved.

The Stage.

It has been decided to set a standard stage size for all builds whether it’s in the competition  or just a display a team are putting on for another club. An area of 12ft * 16ft (this is six 8*4 sheets of ply) is allowed for each team taking place with a minimum of 2ft between each teams area. This can be set up on a concrete or tarmac base but if in a field or a venue that has not a solid area it must be raised up it is suggested that it is approx 4ft high and can be set up on pallets or scaffolding. Ensure there is ramps available to get tractors up on the stage and that there is a hand rail around the stage. No other persons except a photographer and judge should be allowed inside this area.

The Tractor.

The tractor used for the build must be a standard Ferguson 20 TVO; the tractor must be as close as possible to how it left the production line and have all its original parts. Apart from a few already agreed modifications all parts must be assembled and fixed using original parts. All tractors must have a starter.

The Build.

The tractor must be broke down completely at least half an hour before the event is due to start this will allow time for the judge to check that all tractors are split equally. The build itself must be completed by a 4 person team and no outside help is to be allowed, the tractor can be assembled in whatever order the team wish using hand tools only (no power tools).  Every part must be replaced and all nuts and bolts must be in place and fully tightened as it were when new. A minimum of 1 gallon of water and 1 gallon of oil must be replaced and this should be in a container on view before build starts and the empty container is thereafter. The clock will be stopped once the engine is started and all jacks and stands are removed from under the tractor no more work must be carried out and the team captain only must stay with the tractor while it is been inspected.

Inspection.

The inspection will be carried out after all teams are finished and the captain from each team can oversee the inspection. The PTO and lift must work and the tractor must be able to move before been considered to be complete. The judge will check that all bolts and nuts are in place and tightened, if a nut can be moved by hand it will mean a 5 second penalty for each one. If a nut and/or bolt are missing it is a 10sec penalty and a 5sec penalty will be given for any R clips that are missing. Any penalties that the judge may have to give to a team will be pointed out and discussed with the team captain and the other captains.
